The day is here! It’s Opening Ceremonies Day! I’m so excited to watch, and I’m equally excited about these five cocktails that will keep the party going for the full two weeks of Olympic festivities.
First up is a great mocktail for the kids – it’s an Olympic Torch drink, made like a mimosa except with sparkling cider, and then there’s a splash of grenadine to light it on fire! Gold rimmed high ball glass found here.
Next up is my Gold Medal Margarita, and I used my favorite margarita recipe found here. It wins the gold medal, because a margarita always wins in my book, so it gets to be served in a gold mason jar (found at Party City!).
The star of the show for the remaining three cocktails is a Brazilian spirit called caçhaca, which is distilled from sugarcane juice.
First up is a Brazilian Mule, made similar to a Moscow Mule, except you add caçhaca instead of vodka. I found a great website with the recipe here. Copper mug found here.
Next up is Brazilian Sangria. I looked at a few recipes but actually modified them to come up with my own.
I used slices of oranges, limes, and strawberries with 8 oz. of red wine, 4 oz. of caçhaca, 2 tablespoons of brandy, and 2 tablespoons of orange liqueur. Mix all of that together and let it sit in the fridge, then serve with slices of fruit.
And finally, I made caipirinha, which is Brazil’s national cocktail! I used Natalie Morales’ recipe found here.
I’m excited to enjoy each of these cocktails while watching my favorite Olympic sports these next two weeks!
Be sure to check out my other Olympic blog posts!
Party on!
