Since it’s mid-August already (what?!) I thought it’d be fun to throw it back to a Kindergarten Kick-off Party I hosted a couple years ago. These decorations could also be used for a Back to School Party for older kids or teachers. It was so much fun, and such a great way to celebrate the little kindergartners.
I went for bright colors and school supplies for my decorations!
For the pencil vase, I hot-glued pencils to a clear glass vase, then tied it with rule ribbon (from Hobby Lobby). It was an inexpensive way to make the vase festive
I found those red-topped candy holders here, glued a little pipe cleaner and piece of felt to top, and filled it with red sixlets to turn it into an apple.
I bought the flash cards from my local Teacher Supply Store, and found similar ones here.
I wanted a way for the girls to document what they wanted to be when they grow up, so I found these little chalk boards at my Teacher Supply Store (similar here), and provided the girls with chalk so they could draw. And how cute is that drawing. Yes, I’d like to be a queen when I grow up, too! 🙂
For favors for the girls, I got these plastic boxes from the Container Store (side note – I’ve loved these containers since I was little, so I’ll take any excuse to use them!!).
I filled the container with Smarties, markers, a pencil-shaped eraser, and some other fun treats. I also got each girl a Frozen pen, because duh. And I found those cool vocabulary dry-erase boards at my local Teacher Supply Store (similar here). I painted a wooden letter and glued it to each.
For food and drinks, we grilled out and had sparkling cider for the girls and beer and hard cider for the adults. I wanted them to feel like part of the fun, so I used these vocabulary strips (found here) to label the adult drinks. I used my mason jars with fun multi-colored straws for everyone and found the apple nametags at Office Depot. I found the awesome school-themed cookies at Whole Foods!
It was such a fun day, and something I hope the girls will always remember! I can’t believe it’s already back-to-school time again. Where did the summer go?!
Party on!
