Even though I don’t have kids and I don’t work in a classroom, I always love Back to School time! One of my favorite memories growing up was shopping for my First Day of School outfit with my mom. And clearly, I made some quality decisions. I mean, check out that outfit. And hair. Oh my…
I digress…
So, I love this time of year, and I’m excited to share with you my favorite things about Back to School time!
My first favorite is hosting a kick-off party, whether it’s for new kindergartners or seniors in high school, I feel like this is a great way to start the school year off.
Check out my blog post from yesterday for all the details on a Kindergarten Kick-off I hosted a couple years ago.
My next favorite is first day of school photos. I love this and have always loved this. There are so many cute signs out there, and this one is a current favorite, from this blog.
I love that she had the little girl write her own name, and I’m totally swooning over that life size ruler and barrel of apples! And, it’d be so fun to see how those answers change over the years.
My next favorite thing about Back to School is creative teacher gifts. I think it’s important to thank teachers as often as possible, and my favorite teacher gifts of the moment are these.
I love any excuse to transform a ball jar into something amazing!

My next favorite is Back to School gifts for students! My favorite gift that I’ve given recently was a “Survival Kit” for a college student going through sorority recruitment. Sorority recruitment is fun and it can also be pretty stressful, so I’ll take any opportunity to encourage someone going through it!
You could also create a Kindergarten Survival Kit, Senior Year Survival Kit, Teacher Survival Kit, etc. So many ideas!
And, it wouldn’t be Back to School time without a wardrobe update, so my favorite fall finds to get me ready for Texas Tech Red Raider game day (!!) are:
Poppy Red dress || Jeffrey Campbell booties || Kendra Scott earrings || Texas Tech buttons
Two weeks from tomorrow is the first football game for the Red Raiders! I’ll be cheering them on from the PNW all season long!
Party on!

oh gosh – love everything about this post. I can’t wait for my kids to get a little older to start doing fun “back to school decorations!” Um, I think I need those shoes and that red dress! Happy weekend!
