This week’s blog posts have been all about a Harvest Brunch I threw on Monday, and today I’m excited to share the party decorations and details with you!
I was first inspired to host this brunch as a way to bring my Girl Scout troop together on a no-school day for a little fun since our troop meetings are so packed right now, and the girls’ schedules don’t match up on the weekends for field trips since most of them are working.
We’re pictured above rocking our plaid at the party. Love these girls!
When it was time to start planning, my first stop, as usual, was Pinterest for inspiration. I created this blog post and this Pinterest board as I started to brainstorm. The more I started to develop my idea, the more I swayed away from a Halloween theme, focusing on fall and harvest.
Decorating was pretty easy since I didn’t really need to do anything with my house. It was already decorated for fall, so it was set, and allowed me to really focus on the tablescape, party craft, and food.
I gathered some fall fabrics, got some great fall tablewares, and pulled some of my pumpkins off my mantle, and I was ready to start on the table!
When I’m building a tablescape I love to do a lot of layering and since it’s fall, I love to add a lot of rich textures to the layers, too. I used the great mustard fabric as my runner down the center, then the gray flannel fabric squared off the center of the table to feature the centerpiece. Both fabrics are from Hobby Lobby. I love that wood pedestal, and it is a mainstay on my kitchen table.
The flowers were a birthday gift from my dad, and they were perfect! (My mom told me she encouraged him to pick the fall bouquet because she knew my Harvest Party was coming soon after my birthday. So smart, Mom! And thanks for the flowers, Dad!). I also added in some glassybaby and mercury glass candles (from Target’s Dollar Spot) to the centerpiece.
The plaid scrapbook papers served as the base placemats. I wanted to have something disposable at each place since this would also serve as the workstation for crafting.
Next I layered in those awesome felt pumpkins (from Michaels), and put the tablewares on top of that. The plates and napkins are from Target last year. The wooden cutlery is from Michaels. At each place I also added a mason jar with a gold striped straw (from Michaels), and included the favors for each guest, too.
I wanted the favors to be in keeping with the theme but also practical. I love including Bath and Body Works hand sanitizers with my favors. They’re inexpensive, and the variety of themed flavors is always perfect. The gloves are from Target, and I made a little jar of autumn trail mix for each guest, too.
I also placed a small pumpkin at each place, and those were for our pumpkin painting craft.
The girls were really into this, and I think their pumpkins turned out great!
Since my table only seats four, I had to bring in a card table (I love my card table (similar) – it has a really nice look and folds away easily for storage). All in all, I was really pleased with how everything came together.
On Tuesday, I shared the details on what I served for brunch.
It was such a fun morning, filled with delicious food, fun at the Pumpkin Patch, and a little rain.
I hope we can do this again next year!
Party on!
