Monday night I hosted my Girl Scout troop for our annual Christmas party! Last year was the first year we had the party at my house, and it was so fun, the girls asked if I would host again. And, duh, of course I said yes 😉
I sent digital invitations out in late November after deciding on my theme – Merry and Bright! I love using Paperless Post for e-invitations – they have a great variety and I love the tracking system and event wall for guest comments.
I told the girls they could dress festive if they wanted, and I found this Christmas lights necklace for my party outfit! (And sidenote, how great is this Snapchat filter?! So festive!). And a bonus to hosting the party at home – I got to wear my cozy slippers all night long!
I decorated with a bunch of brightly colored trees, festive tree fabric, and poinsettias. I’m totally crushing on pink poinsettias lately!!
If you read my post about my work Christmas party, you’ll recognize some of the same decor. The work party was a last minute addition to my holiday schedule, so I made it easier on myself by doubling up on some of the decor for both events. I had my fireplace DVD and Christmas music playing as everyone arrived, and my cute little co-host served as security at the front door 🙂
For favors, I found these darling tree boxes in the Target dollar spot that matched my theme perfectly. I also picked up initial key chains and confetti tumblers from Swoozies, then I tucked a couple sugar cookies into the box as well (from a local favorite, Snohomish Pie Company).
I kept the food simple – chicken nuggets and fixins for make-your-own nachos. I also had more sugar cookies and the same gingerbread cake leftover from my sorority Christmas party (they deemed it “too pretty to eat,” so these girls got to enjoy it instead!).
For drinks I set up a hot chocolate bar and served my mocktail version of poinsettia punch.
Our craft was the same craft I’d done at my other two parties – using the Cricut to personalize their tumblers (read all about it in my work party post). It was a hit once again! This was the first year I kept the party activity the same at all three events, and I will definitely be doing that again in the future! It made planning for the craft so easy because I just bought everything I needed well in advance and I was set for the season.
In addition to our party craft, the girls brought a gift for a gift exchange, so we finished the night with that. It was another successful Girl Scout troop Christmas party and I always love getting to spend time with these girls!
Party on!
