I’m so excited because this weekend is Kamp KΔ! Kamp KΔ is an annual glamping event with my fellow sorority advisors and the newly elected council. We spend the weekend together goal setting, calendaring, and team building.
Traditionally, Kamp has been full of candy, chips, more candy, more chips, and lots of diet soda. Well this year, a lot of us started Whole30 (come back next week – I’ll be blogging about my experience with the program!), and we want to remain committed so I was challenged to fill the void of junk food. I came up with the idea of putting together a trail mix bar and was excited because it’ll be delicious and stays true to the glamping theme!
Using my Whole30 cookbook as a guide, I visited the grocery store and gathered my trail mix items.
In addition to the Whole30-compliant items, I added in some M&Ms because we do have a few people who aren’t on Whole30, so I wanted additional options for them.
I made a stop at Party City to pick up some gift bags that matched the color scheme (pink, green, and purple). I also went to Hobby Lobby to get some treat cups and scoops. Everything else I had on hand.
Once I had all my supplies gathered, it was time to build the bar as a test run before the weekend. I ironed my pink fabric, hung my tassel garland, and decorated my chalkboard sign.
Then, I prepped the bags. I cut off three inches from the tops of each bag so they’d be ready to be filled with treats.
Next it was time to create the tags for each item and decorate the treat cups. I have an amazing set of printables from Anders Ruff that I ordered for the very first Kamp and use every year. (Side note – I love that about good, quality printables – they’re versatile and you can continue to use them over and over again!)
Once everything was prepped, it was time to style the bar!
I initially grouped all the ingredients on one side of the table like this…
I liked that OK, but decided to play around with another layout that I ultimately liked better. I raised the tassel garland in the middle and moved the frame and sign to the middle too. Then I spread the trail mix ingredients out across the table.
I’m excited to see what trail mix combinations everyone comes up with. I’ll be sharing more about Kamp throughout the week, so come back by!
In the meantime, if you want to learn more about my sorority experience, you can read about it here.
Party on!
