I’m so happy that pumpkin season continues into November, because I definitely did not get my full pumpkin fix in October. Last month, I shared a yummy pumpkin cocktail, the Sparkling Bourbon Pumpkin Punch. Today, I’m sharing a twist on one of my favorite cocktails, the Moscow Mule. The Pumpkin Mule is a little spicy, a little sweet, and a whole lot of delicious.
The first step to making this cocktail is the creation of the pumpkin syrup. And after I tasted this stuff, I started daydreaming about all the other things I could put it on. YUM.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup pureed pumpkin
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp. grownd cloves
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract (my favorite vanilla extract, pictured above, is from here)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan, and stir over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Reduce the heat to low, and let the mixture simmer for ten minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat, and store in an airtight container. If using it for Pumpkin Mules right away, allow it to cool before adding to the drink mixture.
Once it’s cooled, it’s time to build the Pumpkin Mule!
Ingredients for one cocktail:
- 2 oz. pumpkin spice syrup
- 4 oz. ginger beer
- 1.5 oz. vodka
- cinnamon stick stirrer
- nutmeg (don’t mind the ground cinnamon in the picture above. I think I’m still on a sugar high from Halloween ;))
- ice
Directions:
Combine the ginger beer, pumpkin spice syrup, and vodka in a cocktail shaker. Take care when shaking, since the ginger beer is carbonated. Once everything is combined, pour the mixture over ice in copper cocktail mugs, add a cinnamon stick stirrer and a dash of nutmeg and serve!
This cocktail will be the perfect addition to all the friend and family gatherings this month! And, if you’re looking for a simple, thoughtful gift – consider bottling up some of the pumpkin spice syrup in a cute glass jar and attaching the recipe for the Pumpkin Mule around the jar with a piece of twine or festive fall ribbon. It’ll be a hit!
Party on!
