It’s been a whirlwind week for me – I was traveling for my sorority this week visiting the Kappa Delta chapter at The College of New Jersey! That said, today’s Friday Favorites are pretty random 🙂
My first favorite is the birthday party I helped decorate for before I left for the east coast! My partner’s grandpa turned 83 this month, so the whole family got together to have dinner and celebrate him. As I was styling for the party, I wanted to make sure it was simple, classy, and personal. I decided on a color palate of blues and browns and used family photos in simple frames to add a personal touch. I was really pleased with how it all came together!
My next favorite is the fun week I had in Pennsylvania/New Jersey. I flew to Philadelphia on Sunday, spent the night, then headed to The College of New Jersey in Ewing on Monday where I spent the next three nights. I always love being on a college campus – it is so full of energy! And I really enjoyed exploring Philadelphia. It was such a cool city. Here are some snapshots of my week:
As you can see in my Liberty Bell shot above I’m using Snapchat now, and that’s another favorite for me this week. Many of my friends are using it, so I decided to really give it a try while I was traveling, and it was so much fun! I love all the photo overlays at points of interest/cities and I think it’s such a cool way to document a trip/party/life. I’m definitely going to try and use it more. Follow me!
My next favorite from this week was the arrival of my Trunk from Trunk Club! This shopping service is similar to StitchFix but it’s all Nordstrom items and I love it. I liked StitchFix, but Trunk Club is a little more my style. And, there’s no styling fee – bonus!!
This is my fifth trunk and my stylist has me figured out for sure. She always sends great items, most of which I want to keep every time! This would be a great way to shop for party clothes for the upcoming season without having to bother going to the store.
This particular trunk was smaller than others I’ve received in the past. Sometimes, they’ll come with shoes, purses, and jewelry! And the great thing is that you can tell your stylist what events you have coming up and he/she will create a trunk that gives you a variety of options to choose from. This trunk was a fall season sampler for me, so I wasn’t looking for any specific event.
After considering my needs for the season, I’m keeping the cabernet top from the top left picture – it’s a nice thick fabric and has a great darting on the back which I really like. I’m also keeping the faux leather leggings and the white sweater from the bottom right pic. I wasn’t too sure how I felt about the open shoulder sleeve trend, but after trying on this sweater, I’m actually kinda digging it!
I really love the black and white romper (bottom left pic), but it’s a little too short for me, so that’s going back. I’m also sending back the waffle tee (top middle). It’s really wide and boxy on me. I love the high low skirt (top right pic), but I don’t really have a need for it, so it’s going back too. I’m still undecided on the dress in the bottom middle picture. It’s a charcoal gray sweater dress and it’s super comfy, but also very form fitting so it’d be a more bold wardrobe choice than I’m used to. We’ll see!
I have five days to try things on, then send back what I don’t want and Trunk Club will bill me for what I keep. The one downside to Trunk Club for me is that I don’t get my Nordstrom points and I do love those points! I’m hoping they’ll figure that out soon.
My final favorite is that it is fall! YAY! Last night I picked up one final batch of fresh flowers (in fall colors of course!) from my local farmer’s market before they close for the season. This weekend I’ll be decorating for fall, so stay tuned for those updates next week.
Party on!
