Happy Valentine’s Day! Or, as it’s now known in my family – Happy Gemma’s Birthday! #proudauntie
If you’re looking for a quick, tasty cocktail idea for your Val/Galentine’s Day celebration, I’ve got you covered! This rosé cocktail is very easy to make, it’s festive for Valentine’s Day, and, most importantly, it is yummy!
Here’s what you’ll need to make two cocktails:
- 1 oz. Grapefruit Juice
- 1 oz. Sugar syrup
- 6 oz. Champagne (splurge here!)
- 3 oz. Rosé
- 2 Egg whites
- Edible flowers
A few notes on the ingredients…
Most of the time, if you’re using champagne in a cocktail, you can go with a less expensive bottle because the champagne will be masked by the other flavors. For this particular cocktail, the other flavors are really light, so you want a nice champagne with a good flavor, so splurge!
Adding egg whites to cocktails is a tradition that dates back more than one hundred years! Egg whites give cocktails a rich, creamy texture and a beautiful foamy cap. Unpasteurized egg whites are odorless and tasteless, so the addition is almost entirely textural.
Edible flowers can be found at most gourmet grocery stores, but you can also pick up roses from your regular grocery store. All varieties of roses are edible!
So, once everything is gathered, pour the grapefruit juice, sugar syrup, rosé, and egg whites into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Give the shaker a good rigorous shake for about 15 seconds, then use the strainer to pour the mixture into two cocktail glasses (find my go-to cocktail glasses here. I also love these, these and these).
Next up, top with champagne.
Add a rose, or edible flower of your choice, and serve!
In addition to Valentine’s Day, this cocktail would be perfect for a bridal shower, bridal brunch, Mother’s Day, the list goes on!
