Friday Favorites: Sunriver Vacation

I can’t believe it’s already Friday! I leave Monday for THREE WEEKS in Europe. I’m taking my Girl Scout troop and we’re all just a little excited!! Five of the six of them will be seniors in high school next year, so this trip is something we’ve looked forward to for a long time. So, since I’ll be out of the country, after today I’ll be taking a little blogging break until the end of August.

Getting ready to leave has had me reminiscing about the previous trips I’ve taken my girls on. In addition to countless camping trips, field trips, and other local adventures, I’ve had the pleasure to take them to San Francisco, Oregon, Colorado, and I helped them plan a trip to Costa Rica (I didn’t join them, but they had a blast, and I loved helping them plan!). Those memories and the excitement for this trip is definitely a favorite this week!!

My other four favorites this week are all about the vacation I returned from last weekend, a week in Sunriver, Oregon! Continue reading

Julie Travels: Sunriver, Oregon

Today is a departure from my normal party/crafting posts to share my second #julietravels post! Check out my first series, all about New York, here. I thought it’d be fun to include these posts on my blog, because planning travel is a lot like planning a party, and I love it, obviously. πŸ˜‰ Plus, I always enjoy reading other blogs about  travel to get ideas for my own adventures, so I figured I might do the same. So, let’s get to it!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I spent last week in Sunriver, Oregon with Chelsea’s family. Her family has been going to Sunriver for years, and I’ve had the good fortune to go the last four summers. I can definitely understand why it’s a place they’ve chosen to return to year after year.

Sunriver is situated at the base of the Cascade Mountain Range in central Oregon, 15 miles south of Bend. With its high elevation comes cool mornings, warm afternoons, and tons of sunshine making it the perfect summer getaway! (I’ve never been in the winter, but I hear it’s pretty great then, too.)

Each summer, the Ray family rents three houses for everyone to stay in for the week, giving us the flexibility to enjoy meals at home plus many of the luxuries of home you don’t have in a hotel room (like a hot tub at each house. Yes, please!)

But, if we were looking for the ease that comes with a hotel room and didn’t plan to cook meals ourselves, the Sunriver Lodge is a gorgeous option!

My favorite thing about vacationing in Sunriver is that it’s totally customizable to whatever experience you want. White water rafting? Check. Horseback riding? Check? Shopping? Check. Laying by the pool? Check check. Love that!

Here are my favorite things to do in Sunriver…

Tasty Tuesday: Sparkling Syrah Sangria

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday! I am back at work this week after a wonderful visit to Sunriver, Oregon. I’ll be sharing the details of my trip later this week, and today, I’m sharing a fun summer cocktail inspired by a visit to Treveri Winery. Chelsea and I have stopped at Treveri for the past three summers on our roadtrip to Sunriver, and it’s always a stop I look forward to.

The winery grounds are gorgeous, the food is amazing, and the wine tasting is FREE!

In addition to the free tastings, they also have some pretty amazing cocktails featuring their sparkling wines, and one of my favorites is their Syrah Sangria. I love it so much, I was inspired to buy a bottle and recreate it at home!

So, here’s what I used to make one pitcher full, which would make four cocktails… Continue reading

Caribbean-themed Dinner

Hello friends! Last night, I hosted such a fun dinner with Chelsea and her siblings. Like I mentioned yesterday, when we’re on vacation in Sunriver, each family is in charge of one of the dinners and last night was our night!

We first decided on the Caribbean theme last month, and I volunteered to be in charge of decorations. Surprised? πŸ˜‰ I got right to work looking at Pinterest and browsing a few of my favorite online shops for decoration inspiration. Ultimately, I decided to go with mostly palm leaves and I had so much fun shopping and gathering everything.

I gathered some of decor from my house, and did some styling before we made the trip to see how everything would look together.  Continue reading

Tasty Tuesday: Tropical Rum Punch

During this week, each family is assigned a night to cook dinner for everyone and tonight is our night! If you’ve read my blog for a while, you might recall that last year we did a Greek dinner and tonight, we’re going TROPICAL! Continue reading

Friday Favorites: Cactus Party Faves!

Happy Friday, friends! I feel like I say this every Friday, but seriously. Slow. down. summer! As excited as I am for my upcoming trips, I know that once they get here, they’ll just fly by, so I’m really trying to enjoy the anticipation too!

This week has been all about cactus! I’ve really loved seeing how cactus are so trendy right now! I feel like lots of cute symbols are getting their due fame (pineapples, flamingos, unicorns). Is it just because there’s an emoji to match?? Maybe. I’m not complaining about it though πŸ˜‰ I digress. Let’s get back to the CACTUS!

So, I’m pretty much cactus obsessed lately, and this week I’ve celebrated that.

My first favorite is the party decor I shared on Monday. I had so much fun gathering all this decor for two different events, and I love the shades of greens and pinks. So summery! Get the details here.

My next favorite is my #tastytuesday post, where I shared a Prickly Pear mocktail and cocktail. Both equally delicious! Get the recipes here. Continue reading

Tasty Tuesday: Prickly Pear Cocktail and Mocktail

It’s all things cactus this week on the blog, inspired by my recent trip to Phoenix! I had so much fun in the desert, and BONUS, I got to be in charge of party decor while I was there, so cactus was the obvious choice πŸ™‚ Here are some snapshots from my trip!

It was such a great week with my sorority sisters! And, I loved that I got to share my passion for parties with my sisters, too! Yesterday, I blogged all about my party decor. You can get those details here.

Today I’m excited to share a fun cactus-inspired cocktail and mocktail, both tried and tested, and both were a hit! so get yourself these ingredients and party like a cactus this weekend!  Continue reading

Make It Monday: Cactus Party Decor

Hi friends! I’m so happy to be back to my blog for a bit – more vacations to come, so another blog break is in the near future. While I’m back, I’m excited to be sharing some of my cactus favorites this week inspired by my trip to the desert! Today, it’s all about cactus party decor at two events last month.

I spent the last week of June in Phoenix at my sorority’s National Convention, and I was asked to be in charge of the decor for a couple meals. I also used the cactus theme for my Girl Scout Troop’s end-of-year party in early June, so it’s been cactus-everything lately, and I’m loving it!
