Hi friends, and happy Tuesday! I hope you had a nice long weekend. Chelsea and I enjoyed a little getaway to the coast and it was so fun.
Today, I’m sharing all the details from my niece’s third birthday! She is a Valentine’s Day baby, which dictates an obvious theme, but after her first birthday was covered in red and pink and hearts, I thought it’d be fun to change it up. Last year I did a Two-tti Fruity Birthday – check out those details here.
My brother’s family lives in Texas near my parents, so I don’t get to always be there for birthdays, but I always try to contribute in some way, and this year was no exception. While brainstorming ideas with my mom, I offered her several suggestions: “A Three Tea,” “Three and Under the Sea,” “Young, Wild, and Three,” “Three-Rex,” and “It’s Fun to BEE Three.” The bees were her favorite, so off we went to brainstorm!
We decided on the classic black and yellow color scheme and went from there. I made a fun and incredibly simple banner! Michaels is my go-to for banners because they sell pre-cut pads of banner pieces in all colors with a variety of patterns, so you can mix and match to fit your theme. Then, all you need to do is either buy stickers or write the letters on the banner pieces, string them together, and you’re done! So simple!!
I couldn’t resist putting together my own display to show off the banner. The first step was putting up the black and white striped backdrop, then I hung the banner. Next, I bought some sunflowers and put those in a black vase, gathered my yellow and gold glassybaby, and then came up with a buzzy saying for my felt letter board.
Of course my presents needed to match, so I wrapped those in black and white paper accented with yellow. I got my niece a cute shirt and hair ties from my Disney World trip.
I also got her some superhero capes and masks, but I didn’t take a picture of those, so here’s a picture of her modeling one 😉
So cute, right?! Ok, back to the decor. Once my presents were wrapped, my little display was all set!
Then it was time to pack up the gifts and banner and send them to my mom for the party! She had gathered a bunch of great stuff herself and really brought the theme to life! Here are some pictures of the house all decorated.
Doesn’t it all look so great?! As soon as my niece arrived she was ooh-ing and ahh-ing over everything. My mom’s favorite quote was when she said “Oh Grammy! My favorite – ladybugs!” Ha!! Everyone enjoyed dinner, dessert, and then a little memory video my dad made. At the end of the party, my mom sent each guest home with the cutest little honey jars for favors.
She bought that darling fabric at Hobby Lobby, cut it into squares and then tied it over the top of a honey jar with some yellow and white craft twine. Then she added the little honeycomb stick and topped each jar off with a little decorative bee. So so cute!
My mom said everyone seemed to have a great time! I was so sad I couldn’t be there in person, but I loved that I got to Facetime for a bit of the party.
In keeping with the theme, I’ll be sharing a delicious honey-inspired cocktail on Thursday, so I’ll see you back here then.
Party on!
