Well, here we are, it’s back to school time! This year, Chelsea’s nephew is starting kindergarten, so we’re having a little family celebration this weekend to mark the milestone! I’m prepping this week and can’t wait to party on Sunday.
I thought it’d be fun to make a wreath as the focal point of the decorations. I’ve seen several crayon wreaths and I love them, so I decided to give it at try.
Here’s what I bought…
- A foam wreath frame
- School masking tape
- Crayons – I bought way more than I needed. I ended up only using 7 and a half boxes
- And, not pictured, the finishing touches, which I decided to add at the end
The first thing I did was use school-themed masking tape around the exterior edges to cover up the foam. I did two layers – one with handwriting tape, and another with rule tape.
Next I glued the crayons around the wreath using a hot glue gun. I started with the first layer, lining the crayons up around the interior edge of the wreath. For the second layer, I staggered them in and out to give the wreath some depth.
I also added in the masking tape to cover up the interior edge.
As a final touch, I added in a wooden pencil, a die cut apple, a cute “I will not gossip” card, and a bow.
I can’t wait to showcase the wreath at the party! I’ll be sharing more party details this week as I prep, so be sure to check back.
Party on!
