We were fortunate to get to spend four fabulous days in Fiji as part of our honeymoon, and it was definitely paradise. Fiji was the first destination we chose and then decided to also include Sydney as part of our overall trip. I loved the combination of the two because Sydney was about being out and about sightseeing and Fiji was all about the beach.
Upon arrival to Nadi Airport in Fiji, we were greeted with Fiji water (of course!) and some shell leis by our car service. The car drove us about an hour away from the hustle and bustle of Nadi to the Fiji Marriott Momi Bay. It was gorgeous and completely isolated which is exactly what we were looking for.
We were taken to our bure in a little golf cart, which was tucked away with down a little path lined with beautiful tropical flowers and palm trees.
We loved the accommodations so much. There are several types to choose from, including standard rooms, lagoon-facing bures (huts), ocean-front bures, and over-water bures. The over-water bures were beautiful, but when it came down to it, we really wanted to have a little more privacy and a larger deck to enjoy the scenery so we opted for an ocean-front bure and it was perfect.
The resort itself has three main restaurants, several cocktail lounges, and two pools. We had two and a half days to just be at our resort and we spent those alternating between our porch, the pool, the beach, and the lagoon.
Because it is so spread out, the resort never felt crowded. In fact, every day we were able to snag our own cabana by the pool. It was lovely and so relaxing!
The resort itself has three main restaurants, several cocktail lounges, and a swim up bar. We enjoyed buffet breakfasts, poolside lunches, and dinners at the restaurants or room service at night. We also had the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Fijian buffet one night, which was so cool.
The breakfast buffet was incredible, stocked with gorgeous fruits, fresh juices, and lots of delicious pastries.
One afternoon, we had the chance to take a cocktail class, and we really enjoyed that and learned recipes for some delicious drinks. I’ll be sharing those soon on the blog!
We went away from the resort for one day, and enjoyed exploring Malamala Beach Club. You can read about that day here. We loved the day trip because it was a nice length of time to get out and see something new, but we still felt like we really got to enjoy our resort.
A few lessons learned for us – the food was good. It wasn’t the best food we’ve ever had, but it certainly wasn’t the worst. I think in the future, we’d bring some of our own groceries and snacks with us so that we don’t have to rely solely on the restaurant food. We’d also pack our own beverages, including alcohol, so that we could avoid shopping at the on-site store, which had limited selection, for that.
All in all, the resort was exactly what we were looking for and we’d both highly recommend it to anyone visiting Fiji.
Have you been to Fiji? What did you love? Please share, because I’d love to add new things to our list when we visit again.
Party on!
