Hello friends! Today’s part three of my Disney Trip recap, talking about what we did on our fourth park day. If you missed part one, check it out here. Part two is here.
For Day Four, we dressed up as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I loved this theme!!
Our day started with a 5 a.m. alarm and catching the early bus to Hollywood Studios hoping to get a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance (RotR). The trick with this process, as it currently exists, is that you and everyone in your party that wants to ride RotR has to be scanned into the park right at park opening. Boarding groups open as soon as the park “officially” opens, which for us was 7 a.m.. We left our hotel at 6:20 and were at Hollywood Studios by 6:30. We got through security and scanned into the park by 6:50 and then found a spot stand and wait just inside the park on Hollywood Blvd. My brother, dad, and I each had our phones prepped and ready. My brother was on T-Mobile cell coverage, my dad on AT&T, and I was on WiFi. Right at 7:00 the boarding groups opened and both my brother and I got error messages. My dad got in and got us all into boarding group 22!!!!!
We all did some cheers and high-fives, then promptly got in line at Starbucks for coffee! Fortunately, even though the line was out the building and wrapped the ramp walkway, it only took about 20 minutes to order and get our drinks.
After coffee, we made our way to Galaxies Edge to have breakfast at Docking Bay 7. We used mobile ordering here, and that’s something that we actually took advantage of quite often and I highly recommend. Before you get to the restaurant, you can take a look at the menu and place your order through the My Disney Experience app on your phone, even if you’re on the meal plan! When you arrive to the restaurant, you click a button that says “I’m here, prepare my order,” and then you’ll go to the Mobile Order Pick-up window to get your meal. We found that this saved us considerable amounts of time waiting in line.
Breakfast at Docking Bay 7 was delicious and it was a fully immersive Star Wars experience. We ate our meal on the wing of a ship!
As we were wrapping up breakfast, our boarding group for RotR was called! Since my nephew is too small to ride, we took advantage of rider switch. We all went to the entrance of the ride to scan our magic bands and some of us rode while the rest waited outside (they actually popped over to Toy Story Land and rode Alien Swirling Saucers!). As we made our way to the entrance, we caught a view of the Millennium Falcon!
So without giving away any spoilers, I just want to say that Rise of the Resistance was incredible! We actually were stuck in the queue for about 30 minutes during a ride breakdown, and cast members walked through with snacks and water which I thought was a wonderful touch. Once we got on the ride, there are several components that include standing, holding on during a transport, walking through a room, and then boarding a ride vehicle. From start to finish it takes about 18 minutes and it was worth every single second.
After we got off the ride, it was time for our FastPass to watch Frozen Ever After. With the rider switch for RotR, the second group could return any time to ride, so we went ahead to Frozen and thoroughly enjoyed it.
We made our way to the Disney Jr. Character Meet-and-Greets and the kids got to meet Vampirina and Doc McStuffins. Their character meeting spots were so cute and the characters were great – the kids loved them both!
From there, we headed to Hollywood and Vine for a character lunch. This buffet-style restaurant was a hit with everyone. We appreciated the wide array of food options, the delicious cocktails, and the opportunity to meet characters as the came by the table. It was also really nice to have a sit down meal to break up the day. Despite my nephew’s tantrum in the picture with Mickey, he had fun but it was his nap time!
After lunch, we headed to Toy Story Land because it was time for Slinky Dog Dash! This was everyone’s first time riding Slinky Dog and we all loved it!! So fun!
After Slinky Dog, we found a nice quiet table just outside the Brown Derby Lounge and a group of us relaxed for a bit while my brother and dad went to ride Rise of the Resistance. We really loved this spot for relaxing because it was nice and quiet and crowd-free. We were able to enjoy snacks, the kids could rest a bit, and the adults could just chill. Perfection!
Disney Junior Dance Party was our next stop, and while it’s not top on my list, the kids really loved it! All their favorite characters made an appearance, plus they love any chance to dance.
My parents took the kids back to the hotel after the Dance Party, and it was date night for my brother, sis-in-law, Chelsea, and me. We grabbed a quick snack at Woody’s Lunchbox (hello totchos – tater tot nachos – yummmmm! plus a homemade poptart), then it was time for our Star Wars Dessert Party!
The Star Wars Dessert Party is held in Star Wars Launch Bay. We checked in shortly after 6:00 for the 6:30 party, and that check-in time was great because we were some of the first to enter the party. We were shown to our assigned table, then grabbed some snacks and desserts. There was a nice array of savory and sweet options, plus three signature cocktails, wine, and beer. We got to enjoy our treats for about 45 minutes, with the occasional storm trooper walking by to see if we wanted to join the First Order.
After desserts, we were guided to reserved seating to watch the Wonderful World of Animation show and the Star Wars fireworks. Our spot was right up front, and while some reviews say it is too close to the building, I still enjoyed this view.
After the shows ended, we stopped in a few shops before making our way out of the park to catch a Lyft back to the hotel.
And then we called it a night after this fun, full day in Hollywood Studios! Check back tomorrow for the final recap of our trip!
Party on!
