A couple weeks ago, Chelsea and I spent a week in one of our favorite places, Sunriver, Oregon, with family! We were extra excited for the trip this year because we hadn’t been all together since Sunriver 2019, and it was a wonderful week. You can read more about previous Sunriver trips here.
In Sunriver, every family is in charge of a dinner, and I’m sure you’ll be shocked to hear that when it’s our turn, I offer to bring the decorations, cocktail, and dessert. We opted to do a Burger Bar this year, and I love how it all came together!
My first favorite from burger night is the decorations. I ended up going with a Burger Bar theme, and settled on a ketchup red and mustard yellow color-scheme. It was so festive and fun!
The red striped runner is from Swoozies. The plates are from Kohls (I know, I couldn’t believe that find either!). The fringe garland is from Shop Sweet Lulu. The letterboard is from Felt Like Sharing. And good ol’ Amazon coming in clutch with the ketchup and mustard bottles, the gingham napkins, the yellow solo cups with lids, and the red striped straws. I also gathered some of my glassybaby votives in coordinating colors, a cake plate I’ve had forever, and created a red and yellow flower arrangement with flowers from Michaels.
My next favorite is the delicious and adorable desserts we served. I found some pinterest inspiration for hamburger cupcakes and instantly knew that was the perfect sweet treat. I added my own spin, and I love how they turned out.
Head to my Insagram and check out my Burger Bar highlight if you want to see how I built these cute treats!
Having all the kiddos get in on the action of assembling the hamburger cupcakes was another favorite. It was a messy, delicious activity and they were so proud of their masterpieces. Love all those happy faces!!
And of course every burger bar needs a cocktail, and this rose sangria is a new favorite, and will definitely be on rotation through the summer. It was so refreshing on that warm Sunriver evening, and seemed to be a crowd pleaser.
Here’s the receipe for a pitcher full of sangria:
2 bottles of dry rosé
1/3 cup brandy
1/4 cup Chamboard
3 Tbsp. agave nectar
1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries
1 1/2 cups bluberries
1 sliced lime
1 sliced lemon
sparkling water
Mix everything except the sparkling water into a pitcher. Allow to sit at least 2 hours, overnight is best. When ready to serve, pour sangria over ice 3/4 cup full, then top with sparkling water.
Fun tip – get an extra bottle of rosé and make rosé ice cubes to avoid it getting too watered down. And how cute is that pitcher?! Found at Swoozies, of course!
Sunriver 2021 did not disappoint, and we’re already counting down the days to Sunriver 2022! Here are a few of my favorite snaps from the week.
