It’s Tasty Tuesday, and I’m sharing some of my favorite ideas for gifts in a jar! A couple years ago, I started taking gifts in a jar to Chelsea’s aunts and uncles on Christmas Day. Everyone seems to enjoy them, so now it’s a fun tradition and I always look forward to creating something a little different from the previous year.
Last year I did chex mix and the year before that a soup mix. The chex mix was the original recipe chex in a jar with a tag, but I have no pics (bummer!). And here’s my one picture of the soup mix…
Layered inside the jar are all the beans, and the spices are included in a little baggie on top. I am in love with that tree stamp, so I used it to decorate the front of the tag. The back of the tag included instructions for making the soup.I tied the tag to the jar with baker’s twine. I cut out squares of tissue paper and used that to cover the mason jar lid to give it a little something extra.
If you like this idea, check out the bean soup recipe here.
Of course Pinterest is a great source of inspiration for gifts in a jar, so I created a board to gather ideas. Check it out here.
Some of my favorites are…
Clockwise from top left…
#1. Chocolate Brownie Mix: I love the simplicity of the tag and the sprig of greenery attached to the outside – so classic.
#2. Peppermint Hot Chocolate: candy canes make everything festive, so I love that! And who doesn’t love a nice cup of hot chocolate on a snowy evening at home?!
#3. Cinnamon Spice Muffins: I am so in love with the idea of topping off the mason jar with muffin cups! And I really like the simple twine used to attach them to the top.
#4. Santa Hat Chex Mix: Those Santa hats are chocolate covered bugles. Need I say more? 😉
Gifts in a jar would be great for teachers, neighbors, co-workers, and so many more. One of my favorite things about creating gifts in a jar is how quickly they come together. You buy a big batch of supplies, make everything all at once, and you’re set for gift-giving!
Party on!
