This week I’m on vacation in Oregon, and each family hosts dinner one night while we’re here. Last night was our turn and we decided it would be Greek-themed. I volunteered to be in charge of decorations, obviously 🙂
I thought the Greek flag was the perfect inspiration, so I went with that and gathered and bought blue and white decor!
I got the tassels, plates, straws, and napkins at Shop Sweet Lulu. The cups (which are buy one, get one in all colors!!) and blue striped wrapping paper are from Party City. The flags are from the Miniature Flag Shop (they have all countries and states). And, I pulled out my blue and white glassybaby to compliment the decor.
While I was shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I stumbled upon a pop-up Sugarfina Shop at my local Nordstrom, and as luck would have it – they had Greek candies! I made a 4-piece bento box and incorporated those into the decor and we enjoyed them as part of dessert.
In addition to the decor, I was also in charge of an appetizer, and I made one of my favorites, Greek seven-layer dip! It is so yummy and easy. We also had Greek salad skewers, and then for the meal we did gyros and an orzo pasta salad.
Since there are kids on vacation with us, I wanted them to feel like they were part of the hosting, so they helped make flags to incorporate into the decor. So cute, right?!
When I host parties, I like to dress to compliment the theme, but not be too over the top with it. I decided my favorite J. Crew earrings would be a great way to tie in the colors of the Greek flag with an added pop of yellow. Since it’s vacation, we’re dressing casually, so my outfit was jeans and one of my favorite tanks (I have one of these in almost every color, and you can’t beat the price). We had been in the sun all day, so I also added my new must-have beauty product – Lustro Shimmer Oil from Beauty Counter to re-moisturize my skin. Y’all, it is amazing; it re-hydrates without feeling heavy and adds just a bit of shimmer. I love it!
