One week until Christmas?! Where has this year gone?? I’m enjoying a full two weeks off of work, and I kicked off my winter break with a little slumber party with my Girl Scout troop this past weekend. This summer, the girls made a bucket list of things they wanted to do in their last year of Scouts (they all graduate in June), and a slumber party at my house was on the list. They said they wanted to watch movies and do crafts, so that’s exactly what I planned.
After shopping around for decorations, I found some adorable plates that said, “Oh what fun!” and decided that would be the theme for the party.
To set the tone for the party, I used my favorite online invitation platform, Paperless Post.
Since our house was already decorated for Christmas (read about that here), I didn’t want to go over the top with too much additional decor. So, I gathered the plates, some fun glittery wrapping paper, my lighted marquee board, a glitter banner, and a few other decorations to bring the theme to life.
My girls have been really into beauty products and Lush lately, so I thought it’d be fun to make our own bath bombs. They also requested the chance to make caramel apples, so I got supplies for that, too.
I also set out our stash of Christmas movies so they’d be easily accessible.
The party started at 7:00, so I opted to serve snacks, since I knew the girls would have already eaten dinner. I decided on some veggies with dip, a charcuterie board, fruit, sugar cookies, and the caramel apples.
For some extra fun, I used some wrapping paper, string lights, and my glitter banner to create a fun photo booth for the girls. I also made my first geofilter on Snapchat!
Since it was a cozy night in, I wanted the party favors to reflect that. I got each girl some cozy slipper socks, a bath bomb, a face mask, and a s’mores candy bar. I also used the laser cutter at Girl Scouts to create an extra special ornament for the girls featuring a snapshot from a photo shoot we had done earlier this year. I wrapped everything up in a little box and put them under the tree ready to be gifted.
It was such a fun night, and I hardly took any photos because we were having such a good time! I did manage to snap one quick pic of the girls (with Penny too!) before they left in the morning. Love these girls!
On Thursday, I’ll be sharing the recipe for the festive drink I served at the party. See you back here then!
Party on!
