Our house is finally decorated for the holidays. I like to wait until after Thanksgiving, and since it was so late this year, I felt like I was waiting forever to put everything up. And, it feels good to finally have it all done!
Our house is small, so we don’t have to do a ton of decorations to make it feel extra cozy which is nice. I focus most of the decor in our living room, with a few touches in the kitchen, and other rooms. And, of course, I always decorate the front porch.
Let’s start there. Welcome to our home!
I always love the opportunity to make a fresh evergreen wreath for our front door at our local nursery, and this year was no different. We had a fun girls night with friends, family, food, and wine and enjoyed crafting together.
I opted for buffalo plaid after I found a great plaid doormat at Michaels. I bought ribbon for the evergreen wreath, and found some perfect oversize bows for our window wreaths. The fresh garland was a bargain find at Trader Joe’s, and I used battery operated lights throughout. In our windows, we hung white twinkle lights to tie it all together.
Inside the house, I continued the plaid theme, using lots of different types of plaid and lots of trees. The color palette is green, red, black, and white with touches of sparkle.
Our tree is filled with lots of plaid ribbon, plaid ornaments, and a fun “fa la la” banner/ribbon I found at Michaels. I also tucked in all of our travel ornaments, as well as our previous Christmas cards, and other sentimental ornaments. I love the mix of styled ornaments with sentimental ones. Next to the tree, I traded one of our bunny grass wreaths for a reindeer bust.
On our main window, I have strings of felt and pom poms draped over the curtain rod, and we’re hanging holiday cards on the strings using clothespins. I also traded out our normal decor for a framed “Merry” sign from Michaels.
The couch is extra cozy with plaid pillows and a reindeer pillow.
On our TV stand, I tucked our nativity scene surrounded by battery-operated candles and an “O Holy Night” sign I painted a few years ago. On top, I did a little collection of trees.
Our mantle is a winter wonderland collection of white trees among flocked garland, glassybaby votives, and twinkle lights.
In our kitchen, I put garland and lights up around the window. I also decorated a small tree with kitchen ornaments, and put our little gingerbread figures next to the tree.
On our kitchen table, I stretched garland across, added twinkle lights, and tucked in little houses and red berries.
I love this time of year, and I love how cozy and festive our house feels! Are you done decorating for Christmas? What’s your favorite decor in your house?
