A few weeks ago, my mother-in-law and I co-hosted our annual birthday sleepover for my nieces. We typically each do our own sleepovers, but this year we decided to combine forces and host one big soirée together.
I was in charge of the decorations and activities, and my MIL took care of all the food. We went for a tropical, beachy “Let’s Flamingle” theme complete with pineapples, palm trees, and, of course, flamingos.
I have so many favorites from the slumber party, so let’s dive right in to all the fun!
My first favorite is the tropical makeover we gave to the mantle. I found the balloon garland kit at Target earlier this summer, and added in the flamingo balloon and flamingo piñata (both from Target). The “Let’s Flamingle” banner was purchased from Etsy, and I included some of my own tropical party decor.
Another favorite was the party favors for each girl, which I displayed on the fireplace. I got each girl two pairs of flamingo socks, a personalized cup (brb, ordering one for myself right now – so cute, right??!!), and a Turkish beach towel. I topped the gift off with a fun little pineapple hand sanitizer holder, and inside was a tropical-scented sanitizer. The girls were so appreciative of the gifts, and I hope they’ll get good use out of all the items this year.
My next favorite was the tropical tablescape. I draped the table in a pink and white striped tablecloth and topped that with a gold glitter runner which mimicked sand. On top of the runner, I sprinkled seashells and included a giant clam shell filled with tropical flowers (all the way from Hawaii!). I also added in a cake plate topped with donuts and some adorable picks that turned them into pineapples (seriously, how cute?!!). Right at the center was a pink flower arrangement with a pink flamingo tucked inside, and to top off the tablescape, I hung some flamingo fans (a set that I found at Kohl’s…I know, I couldn’t believe it either!!).
The girls’ arrival was my most favorite favorite of all. It was such a fun night! We used the tropical flowers to make leis, we spent time outside on a slip ‘n slide, we enjoyed an outdoor movie on the lawn, we ate delicious tropical teriyaki rice bowls, and we decorated pineapple sugar cookies.

And I’m off to brainstorm slumber party ideas for next year, their 13th birthday!!
Party on!
