This weekend, Chelsea and I are headed to her brother and sister-in-law’s annual Christmas party! It’s a fun event we look forward to every year, and it always includes a white elephant gift exchange. My favorite thing about white elephant gift exchanges is the chance to be really creative and silly.
Over the years, the gifts have run the gamut of being funny, stupid, gross, and super creative. My first favorite is the gift Chelsea’s brother gave a couple years ago, which was really punny and creative – loafers.
So great, right?! It was definitely a hit at the party!
In our search this year, Chelsea and I considered several ideas before finally deciding on our gifts. One thing I considered, my next favorite, is this – literally a white elephant.
I probably would’ve gone for this idea, but I was afraid it wouldn’t arrive in time, so I opted for something I could purchase locally. I’m definitely filing this idea away for the future.
My next favorite was something I came across at Swoozies when I was in Dallas a couple weeks ago – these drink markers! Side note: If you need any party gear, Swoozies is my favorite go-to. Right now, you can save up to 30% with code SPEND
HAHA!! I chuckle every time I see these. I especially love that they each have their name on their speedos. So so funny!!
My final two favorites are the gifts Chelsea and I ultimately decided on. Here’s Chelsea’s gift.
Chelsea laughed out loud when I showed her this idea on Pinterest, so we knew it was the perfect gift for her to take to the party. I love that it’s actually something the recipient can use, too. And how many times do you find yourself without batteries on Christmas morning? Am I right??
And here’s my gift.
Rock, paper scissors. This one gave me a good chuckle, and I’ll take any excuse to buy office supplies 😉 Once again, I found myself in the Sugar Paper LA section of Target for the scissors. I got a little memo pad for the paper, and found a rock in our alley (which I spray painted gold). I repurposed a Sugar Paper LA file folder as the cardstock to hold the items, and I got a Sugar Paper LA box to wrap everything in (I used my Cricut to cut out the “merry” that I added to the top of the box).
Our gifts are wrapped and ready, and we’re looking forward to a night of fun and festive celebration!
I hope your weekend is merry!
Party on!
