Last week, I celebrated the holiday season with my Girl Scout Troop, and we had so much fun! The theme was snowmen, and I loved bringing it all to life.
Our troop meets at my office, so I transformed a meeting room into our party space. I created one main table where all the girls sat to enjoy the activities, then had a space off to the side for all the treats. On the main table, I stretched a garland across the table, and tucked decorative picks into the garland, along with trees and a marquee sign. I also cut wrapping paper into placemats for each girls’ spot. I got giant white pom poms to serve as snowballs that held namecards for each girl.
As the girls arrived, they colored a Frosty the Snowman coloring page and sipped on their melted snow (printable here). I also had a ‘fire’ going on the television, with holiday music playing in the background.
Once everyone was there, it was craft time – snowman jars! This craft is so easy and fun, and turns into a great keepsake. To recreate it yourself, you need mason jars, white paint, black buttons, a glue gun, and a sponge brush. I had everything set up for the girls in advance, so all we had to do was pass out supplies and they got to work.
I had the girls paint the inside of the jar to give it a glossy look from the outside. Then, they added their ribbon scarf and buttons and it was complete!
The finished jar could be a candle votive, vase, or a utensil holder! One quick note – if you opt to use this jar as a vase, line the inside with a small cup so that the paint doesn’t wash away when filled with water.
After crafting, it was game time! I found a ‘pin the nose on frosty’ game on Amazon, and it was perfect. It even came with a some cardboard glasses to cover the girls’ eyes during their turn.
Once we finished giving Frosty a nose, it was time for our gift exchange. I asked each girl to bring a wrapped $10 gift, and I read this story about Frosty the Snowman, which instructed them to move left and right each time they heard me say ‘left’ and ‘right.’ There were lots of laughs as I read the story, and once I was done, they took turns opening the gift they’d landed in front of. The girls brought so many fun treats for each other – a bath bomb kit, a bead set, emoji stuffed animals, and more. So cute!
After all the gifts were open, it was everyone’s favorite…SNACK TIME! I had a variety of snowman-themed treats and to label them all, I used these food labels from Etsy. Edited to add – apparently I didn’t know how to spell “snowman” the night I printed the customizable labels, and didn’t notice until I was proofreading this post. haha!!!
I put all the treats on a variety of cake plates, layered on top of the super cute snowman wrapping paper I found at the Container Store. I also tucked in a few snowman figures and added some snowflake balloons to the background.
Snowman Faces – donuts, chocolate chips, and candy corn – then the girls could create their own snowman face.
Snowman Parts – a snowman gorp of pretzels, marshmallows, chocolate chips, and orange jelly beans.
Snowman noses – carrots with ranch and hummus.
Melted Snowman Dip – recipe here, served with graham crackers and pretzels, and DELISH!
I also served snowman hot chocolate (white hot chocolate) with toppings of marshmallows, chocolate chips, and crushed peppermint, melted snow (water), and a few white frosted cupcakes and cheese sticks to add some additional variety to accommodate all dietary needs.
With full bellies and full hearts, I handed out little gift bags (snowman slime, a snowman pencil and notepad, snowman candy, and, of course, a snowman patch!), and we wrapped up the party and everyone went on their merry way!
