This week I had the pleasure of taking a road trip to Pullman for the annual Sisterhood Celebration at Washington State’s Kappa Delta Chapter. This event is always a favorite of mine to plan – I love getting to recognize the achievements of sisters, and celebrate the graduating seniors as they become alumnae members.
Usually my other KD advisor sisters travel over with me, but this year I went alone and they participated on Zoom. I definitely missed having them come along, but I’m so glad we were still able to celebrate our sisterhood and our seniors!
Side note: peep this gorgeous formal living room at the KD house, designed by my KD pledge sister at Texas Tech, Dayme Walther!
This year’s celebration was virtual, so we hosted a COVID-safe “drive-thru” pick-up where everyone could stop by and get the gifts we usually hand out during the banquet, then log-in from home for the celebration to be recognized.
The banquet started out with a really fun memory video, then recognizing the 2020 and 2021 chapter councils and all the incredible work they’ve done leading the chapter through the pandemic.
Academic achievements were celebrated next with a cute KD ring dish (3.5 to 3.74 GPAs), a KD necklace (3.75 to 3.99 GPAs), and a Nordstrom gift card (4.0 GPAs). It was great to see so many sisters achieve academic excellence amidst the pandemic.
Then the chapter council recognized the contributions of chapter members with Sisterhood Awards, and those sisters were gifted a fun nautilus shell backpack that I designed on CustomInk.
The banquet also included a couple sisterhood activities (a craft project and Kahoot! trivia game, focused on KD history).
We concluded with the alumnae induction ceremony where each senior shared her words of wisdom and then they were officially inducted as KD alumnae! Every year, the seniors are celebrated with an embroidered graduation stole and a sisterhood sweatshirt, and this year we also included some delicious Kappa Delta cookies for them to snack on during the banquet, and a fun KD sticker to commemorate the event. They were also given a white rose, which is traditionally given as part of the alumnae induction ceremony.
We ended the banquet with a quick group photo of the seniors. Definitely not the same as in-person, but equally as special to celebrate this group. Sproud of these ladies!
Very grateful to the banquet team I worked with to bring the event to life! Such fabulous sisters!
