It has been really fun to decorate for the holidays this year as we’re getting settled into our new home. Most of our decor is the same as previous years, but in the new house it all feels new!
Welcome! On our front porch, I got some new lanterns, then tucked in some faux mini Christmas trees, a birch reindeer, and a “merry” sign. On the door, I added in my fresh greenery wreath. If you’ve read here a while, you know I love making a fresh wreath for the holidays, and this year was no different. I changed up the wreath adornments this year, and instead of a classic bow, I did a bunch of ribbon streamers and bells. I’m loving it, and think it might be my favorite one yet! Under our door, I got a washable buffalo plaid doormat. We had white lights added to our rooflines and around our windows, and I love the classic, festive look of everything.
We love our flocked tree from King of Christmas, and I like mixing in an assortment of styled elements (plaid ribbons, plaid ornaments, berry picks, and flower picks) and our sentimental travel ornaments. Another favorite element on our tree is the framed pictures of all our past Christmas cards that I tuck throughout. I love displaying the tree in front of a window so it can glow for passersby, and we had the perfect spot in the corner of our living room to do just that.
We got a new fireplace and it is much larger than our old one, so I was super excited to decorate it for the first time. Since the tree is so close to the mantle, I opted to keep it understated with our nativity and some candles as well as our stockings – Penny’s front and center of course. And peep the basket full of her toys, including some holiday toys, too, obviously!
Next to the tree is our couch, adorned with some festive holiday pillows perfect for cozying up to watch holiday movies. And check out one of my most favorite things – our Christmas card tree! Chelsea made that for me last year, and I love watching it fill up throughout the season.
In our reading nook, the comfy chair has another holiday pillow, and a few cute little gnomes tucked next to our snake plant. Wrapped around the banister, I have a faux garland and felted garland adding a festive touch.
The bar area got a few holiday touches, too, and I think it’s so festive and fun! My favorite new addition this year is the Christmas tree cups!
My office is decorated with a “merry and bright” theme, complete with a bright colorful garland over my office doors and a little snowy Christmas village with a couple pink houses and some brightly colored trees.
I limited the decor in our kithen to just a garland over our window, plus a couple holiday touches like these two little figurines and my package wreath on the door to our patio.
I draped our dining table in a navy table cloth, then topped it with fresh greenery sprigs. Over the greenery I added in a fresh flower arrangement of hydrangeas, roses, berries, and greenery. I also tucked into the greenery in an assortment of red and white trees from a variety of places plus my glassybaby votives. I love how it turned out!
Here you see it dressed for a fun luncheon I hosted for my work team. Each guest was gifted a monogramed mug filled with some cozy holiday treats. The mug served dual purpose, as it was what they enjoyed their white chicken chili in for lunch – so yum!
Check back tomorrow to get all the fun details from this year’s Kappa Delta holiday party!
Party on!
